Since 2014 Comic fan fest organize fan meets twice a year. The seventh edition of CFF happened on 4th June in delhi. Where the fans from delhi and cities nearby attended along with various artists from Indian Comics Industry including Jagdish Kumar, Pradeep Sherawat and Prem Kumar. The Chief guest of the fest Mr Ansar Akhtar was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award for his works in Indian Comics Industry, he later took a Q&A session with the fans.
Introduction Round
As always the event kicked off with the introduction round where all the fans present come to the stage introducing themselves and talking about their favorite comics. There were many who were attending the fest for the first time.
First look of Fenil Comics’ Vetaal
Later SNath Mahto unvieled the first look and poster of Fenil Comics’ upcoming horror graphic novel and web series Vetaal.
Special Posters dedicated to Ansar Akhtar
Ansar Akhtar is known for writing mistry and thriller comics, he created various characters in the 80’s and 90’s like Colonel Karan, Amar Akbar, Hawaldar Bahadur, and written various comics of Ram-Rahim and Crookbond as well. Artist Jagdish Kumar presented a tribute poster dedicated to his characters. Pradeep Sherawat also presented the poster of his famous character Colonel Karan Singh.
Exclusive launch of Action Figures by Prem Artfx
Prem Kumar is the only popular action figure creator who creates action figures of Indian comic characters. In the event he revealed the action figures of Ram-Rahim, which brought excitement among the fans. Later he shared his views on the challenges and opportunities of action figure market in India and gave insights about his process of creating them.
In Conversation with Ansar Akhtar
The highlight of the event was the session with Mr Ansar Akhtar. Ansar Akhtar shared his journey as a comic book writer so far, working with various artists and publishers. He provided insights about his process of forming different characters. Fans asked multiple questions related to his professional and personal life which he answered very openly. Ansar Akhtar talked about his professional relationships with the publishers, his talk inspired fans about writing comics as well as reminded about the golden period of Indian comics. He was awarded the Fan Choice Lifetime Achievement Award for his works and contributions in India comics.
Gift Packs
Like every year the attendees of the event were given collectibles as gifts. The gift pack included a Manoj Superheroes coloring book and vintage playing cards of Manoj Comics. The attendees were also given the copies of posters created by Jagdish Kumar and Pradeep Sherawat for Ansar Akhtar.
The event concluded with cake cutting and fans interacting with the artists, taking photographs and getting their comics signed. Comic Fan Fest was organized by Mohnish and Akash Kumar. Mohnish thanked all the fans and artist for making the event successful and said “Today was a very tough day because of the weather conditions but the best part was everyone Sticked to the schedule and commitment. As you all know this event is a non profit event “for the fans and by the fans”, we urge every fan to refer and spread the word to other fans so that no one missed out to meet fellow fans and Indian Comic creatives.
